Give Me Liberty Or Death

Every one of us should know these famous words of Patrick Henry, spoken on March 23, 1775, at St. John’s Church in Richmond, VA. The Purpose of this article is to focus on the word “liberty.” The dictionary defines the word as:

1. Freedom from arbitrary or despotic government;
2. Freedom from external or foreign rule (does this sound like the United Nations?);
3. Freedom from control, interference, obligation, restriction, hampering conditions, thinking, speaking, according to choice.

I don’t know about you, but I believe our present leadership needs to read those definitions. As an American, there are four great freedoms that our forefathers bled and died for, that we might enjoy them. They are:

1. Freedom of Religion
2. Freedom of Speech
3. Freedom of Assembly
4. The Freedom to elect our leaders

I believe the upcoming Election on November 6th may be the most important Election in the last 50 years. The thing that shocks me the most is the number of Christians who are not registered to vote, and the number of Christians who have never voted. That’s a travesty! If you don’t participate in Government you have no right to complain when you don’t like the way things are going. I’m not here to endorse a candidate, you can vote for whoever you want to; but remember: to vote for a candidate that is pro-abortion and pro-homosexuals is a violation of God’s Word. When you vote for a pro-abortionist and a pro-homosexual, you are condoning that sin and entering into that sin, and when you stand before the Lord you will give an account for your vote. We must face the fact that we have people in leadership of both parties that are opposed to God, but at least one party’s platform contains moral values that agree with the Bible. Now before some of you go off the rails, I am not a registered Republican or Democrat. I’m a registered Christian that votes for the issues and for the one that I think can best lead our country. Once again, let me stress: if you disagree, that’s fine with me. If you go into the voting booth and vote for Daffy Duck, I am not going to think any less of you, for each of us are responsible for our own actions. I will still love you. I just ask before you vote that you seek the Face of God. In closing, let me leave the words of King Asa with you, found in II Chronicles 14:11:

“And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with You to help whether with many, or with them who have no power: HELP US O LORD OUR GOD; FOR WE REST ON YOU, AND IN YOUR NAME WE GO AGAINST THIS MULTITUDE. O LORD, YOU ARE OUR GOD, LET NOT MAN PREVAIL AGAINST YOU.”

As well, we must not forget II Chronicles 7:14. So come Election Day, please don’t stand on the side lines, but go to the polls and vote. This has been the musings and ramblings of a patriotic American.
